If you want to use a convenient, easy, effective way of ordering medication then use this link.
If you are still in the stone age and like wasting time, then Requests for repeat medication can be faxed or handed in at reception allowing 48 hours notice.
Prescriptions can also be requested via all the local pharmacies. Please insist that you are given the 'right hand side' of the prescription and that you should only order the items that you need, in order to avoid waste. However you should not order regular medication more often than once a month, i.e. please order everything that you do not have a months supply left of!
We also accept phoned requests between 10 and 4 only, but we will probably be phasing this service out as it is blocks our phone lines and is inefficient.
We are allowed to dispense medicines to all patients living more than one mile from a chemist.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 13 items in 12 months, you will find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
