Did you think being a GP receptionist was an easy job? Think again.
Our staff have evolved over many years. Those who were unable to cope with trying to do 3 things at once while being constantly interrupted, and having to stand for hours at a time with no rest - have gone to do something easier - like joining the SAS! The receptionists that remain have to have the knowledge of an encyclopedia, the cheerfullness of Terry Wogan, and the patience of a saint (to put up with the doctors).
The doctors - on the other hand- are a pretty grumpy lot, so be careful about asking for a dodgy sick note, or prescription after the dog ate your pills. Here are some hints to help you cope with them.
Dr Andrew Whitaker qualified from Manchester in 1980. He belongs to a seriously medical family, and likes doing little operations and freezing warts off. He is a keen triathlete. Health warning! Do not try and keep up with him on a cycle!
Dr Claire Chambers,
MB BS (Distinction) University of Newcastle upon Tyne 1995 MRCGP (Distinction) 2003 DRCOG 2000 DFFP 2001 Clinical Tutor, Hull York Medical School
Dr Chambers was born and bred in Nottinghamshire and went to Medical School in Newcastle upon Tyne. She spent the formative years of her career in the North East, moving to Humberside in 2007.
Her interests in medicine are Women’s Health, Dermatology and Mental Health. She teaches medical students from Hull York Medical School.
She loves painting and is a member of a local art group. She also has a thing for high brow literature, trashy telly and shoes. Her long term ambitions are to have her very own exhibition in a fancy gallery and to persuade her husband that getting a dog is a great idea. At the time of going to press it is looking more likely you’ll see her hanging her artistic efforts in Tate Britain than taking her very own pooch for a walk.
Dr Rebecca Littleford is a local lass who joined as she "wanted to work somewhere I feel proud of". Every day she comes to work and has not fallen off her horse is a bonus.
Dr Josephone Lee trained at Leicester University and has worked in practices in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. She has joined us here in Brigg to move closer to her family in Lincolnshire.
